The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is an international organisation based in Switzerland which seeks to protect the integrity and diversity of nature across the world, encouraging ecological sustainability in politics, society and business. Founded in 1948, its membership includes over 1200 government and non-governmental organisations.
