Agha Muhammad Yahya Khan (1917-1980) was a Pakistani general and politician who served as President of Pakistan from 1969 to 1971. Khan came to power as head of a military government – he had been appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Pakistan Army in 1966 – following the resignation of Ayub Khan. He was forced out of power following the Bangladesh War of Independence and defeat in the war with India in 1971.
